Scrilla Inc & False Idols Design

Scrilla Inc was first incorporated in 2004, a brand created to emulate hustle culture influenced by street fashion and identity. The paper chase: The never ending pursuit of the almighty root of all evils, the dollar sign $.
The company would gain notoriety through graffiti culture as the brand would merchandise hats with the name “SCRILLA” drawn in graffiti by founder Kevan Simms, who would later adopt a stylized version of the dollar sign as the official company logo. As time continued to pass and the brand gained more mainstream appeal, the company began to produce apparel and merchandise for the hip hop/ rap act Blaquemajyk, who would adopt the name $crill-Z as an alias while producing music and creating the album “Monetary Value” to which the brand company Scrilla Inc was synonymous.

The term “Scrilla” derived from the street slang for money, and also coined as representation for the “S” symbol in the dollar sign $

“Scrilla Inc is based on the principle of monetary value and material worth. The pursuit of worth is a benchmark of modern society that shapes our entire lives. Our goal is to provide a brand that emulates the essential element of value, a status symbol for those who have strived through adversity, and grinded to achieve success. Those who have proved their worth through their work, Achieved a status of respect and admiration.”

Scrilla Inc would go on to diversify the company into design and innovation under the alias of False Idols Design. Now as a design and innovation powerhouse the branding would diversify to include a new gritty street brand under the name “Petty Theft”, whose ideals were based on the principals of imitation and collaboration. Borrowing from brands and giving them a street and graffiti style makeover. Taking known cartoon characters and images and giving them a gritty new makeover. The first appearance of Petty Theft was a satire of the monopoly man, which would then bleed into many satirical images of popular cartoon characters. With a heavy influence of street and graffiti culture petty theft became the outlet for the Street and Urban overtones of Scrilla Inc.
